Upgrade

I traded in my yellow sunshine bicycle for what is called an E-bike (electric bike). The benefits of having an E-bike compared to a regular bicycle are pretty convincing in this part of the world. Firstly, everyone and their mom has an E-bike, so my yellow bicycle (with all its’ flare) did not quite compare or compete with the rest of the bikes out there. Secondly, the color suits me way better than yellow. Check out my photo of my pretty awesome blue E-bike. Blue is my favorite color.. and has always been. Thirdly, I get places faster and can make multiple appointments in just one day, which means a lot over here. Fourthly, yes there is a fourthly, it is so much fun to ride! It does not have the speed velocity of a motorcycle, which is run on gas, so I feel safer and it rides like the wind, but still slower than the wind which makes my husband feel better. I could only upgrade after first getting used to riding my yellow sunshine bicycle for a while. The way traffic here, and I mean traffic in a bike lane only, moves is something you just have to learn and experience for yourself. After feeling confident that I had adjusted well to the flow in those bike lanes I then felt ready to ask for an upgrade. It took a lot of convincing, but soon my husband sweetly gave in. The greatest part of all about my upgrade is that my E-bike can hold both my husband and myself, so often if we are heading in the same direction, we ride together! What a sight we make, especially when we here the locals call out in their language (tai xiao le!)... too small! Their meaning is that both of us on the bike make it look pretty small, or that it really is too small for both of us to ride on. Either way, it doesn’t matter, cause in these cold winter days riding with someone else sitting behind you creates a natural built in car heater, something you never get on a bicycle!
